Understanding of Russia
In Russia most people speak the language Russian, and like to be addressed by their three names which is first, middle, and last in a business setting unless told otherwise. They’re very conservative, and take the upmost pride in their culture, and country. Most Russians practice Russian orthodox, or Muslim. They are very religious, and uphold a status at all times. Status is very important to them. They have very strict etiquette, and I will be keeping that in mind when traveling over to the business dinner. They practice a firm greeting, with a handshake, while making direct eye contact. Dinner etiquette, and business etiquette is the same here in the U.S. Woman are treated with the up most respect. The men in Russia are responsible for holding a status that includes treating, and respecting woman. Family life is different for Russians. All members in the family are responsible for one another. Often times the children are responsible for working to take care of their parents. They keep a tight bond, and that's mostly cultural.
Ideal
While traveling over to Russia for a business dinner, I came up with the idea of taking a group of woman off the streets into a residential social service program. This program would entail cognitive behavioral therapy techniques, class work, exercises, and role playing. After this step is successfully accomplished, employment, and housing would be gained with strict restrictions. The woman would also get a week vacation to a resort on a beach that would include pampering, relaxation, and spa type services to show them the essentials of being a woman, and being taken care of. The program would also entail a gradual process to a more productive law abiding citizenship with the goal being a stable and independent woman capable of supporting herself without resorting to previous lifestyles.
A Non-Profit Social Program
Like in every country there are problems with drugs, alcohol, prostitution, and abuse. This needs addressed in many countries but especially in Russia due to the lack of resources. A non-profit social program would be essential to help these women get off the streets, be independent, and live a more productive normal life.
